Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Managing Hot flushes and Sweats

In March, I completed training for using CBT to manage menopause symptoms. I see so many patients who cannot or do not wish to take HRT, and need an alternative effective way of managing their symptoms. In addition, I see many patients who continue to have problems even though they are taking HRT or other therapies. The underlying issue is negative mindset, thoughts, feeling and behaviours towards menopause and their symptoms that perpetuate the vicious cycle.  CBT is known to help reduce symptoms by examining thoughts, feelings and behaviours and changing them from negative to neutral or positive. It promotes a deep sense of understanding the processes that drive the symptoms, an understanding how to avoid triggers and gain control.
